Martial Art And How To Change It

Thursday, June 30, 2011

A martial art is identified as any skill that is usefull within warfare. The definition of martial means "military." So traditionally, a martial art is a military art. The first things that usually pop into your head when discussing modern fighting systems do you think leaping, kicking, punching, blocking, inverting elbows, twisting necks, throwing, and weapons combat. But also horsemanship, javelin throwing, archery, spear fighting, halberd fighting, wrestling, knife fighting, rifle, shotgun, and pistol shooting, demolitions, logistics, and battle strategy can all be classified within as the field of martial arts. Anything that a soldier might do in battle is a martial art.
By martial art usually it is meant aikido, arnis, boxing, capoeria, chow gar, choy la fut, hapkido, hsing'i, hun gar, jeet kune do, jow gar, judo, jujitsu, karate, kempo, kick boxing, krav maga, kung fu, pa kua, penjak silat, praying mantis, savate, shaolin, tae kwon do, tai chi, white crane, ving tsun, wu shu and more! As you can see the list is quite long and it is actually very promising how many combat arts systems there are and how many methods of self defense can be formulated.
The best style out there for you is the style that helps you achieve the product you have set for yourself, and that advances you to take your skills up a level. If that means full contact training, then you need styles that can give you that.
Often within a martial arts school it is taught that 'this style is the best system and it was created to beat all the others'. Of course every martial artist would have the viewpoint their style is the best because that is the style they have chosen to do, but in reality what they are saying is 'this is the best style for me as it suits myattitude and I like the teaching environment'.
There is a ongoing joke in the martial arts, that basically says when someone says theirs is the best style, what they really mean is "I study X". Have an open mind and open eyes, and you will find the style or styles that best fit your needs.
The changing of the arts
During the period of this history and development of the martial arts and all the combat systems of man our training tools have been instrumental in evolving and perfecting these fighting systems.
All the martial arts have been altered due to the function that mechanical devices play whether it be weapons, dojo mats, breaking boards or even the uniforms we wear - all these paraphanialia indentify the martial arts into their systems and style.
The main players in shaping our new martial arts would surely be the non-contemporary wooden dummy, ving tsun rings, iron palm ointments and even the system of using forms and karta have developed the martial arts into their current form.
Even today modern training tools are common and again the martial arts are evolving and growing with new training products such as the Wavemaster, the BOB training dummy, the Focus Master. All with a common idea, to create a well rounded combat system.
Ideally a martial arts solo training tool definately has to be workable for all and based on great background ideals and through constant drilling develop into sound physical application. The ideology and theory would have to take into account all the history of the combat technology of man and give this competition and street application.
Martialarm Combat arts Kung Fu is a total control system made up of scientific body weapons with unrivaled effectiveness in both attacks and defense. Formula Fighting allows a unrivaled set up for attack and defense - a much faster system of fighting than the conventional 'wait until they move response' defenses. Formula fighting correctly applied is so far above current combat systems technology to evolve into a martial science so to set new standards.
# The system includes:
# Smart error ideas and selective targeting
# Meridian points and internal shock strikes
# Multi-functional and military applications
# Broken Rhythm or plyometric applications
# Chi-Sau and automatic reflex systems
# Hidden weapons and clasifications
# One arm combat strategies
# Fire and forget formulas
# Inertia breaking
# Delivery zones
# etc
Martial Arts Modern Warfare
Chinese fighting systems especially are renowned for the wide variety of their hand techniques. Most Kung-Fu styles use a good variation of hand/arm weapons (such as claws, gouges, palms, backhands, punches, backfists, hammerfists, forearm, elbows and shoulder strikes) than their Japanese, Okinawan and Korean counter?parts.
In addition to the actual number of natural body weapons used there is also a tremendous range of different applic?ations due to the regionalised development of Kung Fu styles and the different approaches taken by hard or internal/external styles.
In this analogy, the legs are used as the body's heavy artillery, while the hands are the body's infantry. In a military en?counter, it is common to use first satelite technology to view the opponents attack and defense cababilities and then use long distance stealth artillery to soften up the enemy and to provide a moving cover behind which the infantry can advance to seize and hold disputed territory. Without the benefit of the artillery, the infantry would take heavy casual?ties.
However, artillery with nothing else cannot seize and hold territory - a major bom?bardment may drive the enemy out. So it is with arm and leg techniques - we often use our legs to soften up the opponent and to enable us to bridge the gap until we can close in and finish the fight with hand/arm techniques and the proper use and co-ordination of hand/arm and leg techniques is often crucial to success/ survival.
We espouse a combination approach which uses hand/leg attacks from different angles of attack and at various target levels. The concept is tomaintain a flow of offensive techniques moving into an opponent's target zones from different angles and at different levels, in order to disorientate him/her completely. We believe that this position is superior tactically to reliance upon one or two heavily committed techniques.
Martialarm Scientific Training For Speed
#1. Beginning of action
a. You must start in a positive delivery zone otherwise a negative zone can either injure your body parts or work against the intended action and become counter productive. (Newtons 1st law of motion)
b. Create an inertia breaker, a movement that will help you overcome the inertia (resistence to motion due to gravity and friction).
#2. Middle of action (Newtons 2nd Law)
a. After the inertia breaker you must continue the acceleration with a Booster. (Like a booster rocket, an extra aid, a second stager)
b. All body parts eg arms and legs, in any move be it a punch, block or kick, must always end up in a bent elbow or knee movement to enable a very quick change in any direction at any time.
#3. End of action
NOTE: 'End' of action should not be taken literally as one should never really stop action until the job is done. Our 'end action' has to be programmed to an interuppted continuity as if this stage is still the middle stage.
The Martialarm Combat Training Partner
In a martial arts career you can occationally get into a circumstance with no school to go to or no one to train with and so out of neccessity the martialarm solo training partner was manufactured out of an idea. The Martialarm is a Wu shu training machine used to develop the entry and trapping skills of any martial arts system. It is designed to put to the test any techniques so to improve the ability to trap and control your opponents hands and arms. This can be done because the Martialarm moves and reacts like a real opponent. The Martialarm moves and twists up, down, left and right just like a real opponent would - so it can spring forward and so will strike back!.
The Martialarm Combat Training Partner was tested and implemented on the following theories
Martialarm Theory
#1) Safety - You must maintain 100% safety when entering into the dangerous range, this means to limit any variables that could occur by covering them. (Ways of attack must be sophisticated yet simple, fast as well as safe!)
#2) Attack - You must have the ability to attack when you want, with no worry or problems. The attack should include a great handling of the opponents weapons. (Attacks must be structured to have within them a 100% defense!)
#3) The ability to change and - Techniques, attacks and defenses must flow but not necessarily at a constant pace. The ability to change and to choose what's next is very important!
Martialarm Martial Developement of Power
Most Chinese styles use a calm approach to power development. We try to keep unnecessary muscles from being involved in the technique, in order to avoid inhibiting the prime movers behind a certain technique from achieving its result. Essentially, a straight punch is a triceps-driven technique and the Chinese style of punching allows the triceps to do its job without the inhibition of significant biceps involvement in this punch.
Most other techniques can be viewed in a similar fashion - you have muscles which are vital to the effective execution of a technique and muscles which can be not, or which are even counter-productive when involved in that technique. No matter which martial arts style you do, try to avoid unnecessary muscle involvement.
Many Chinese styles use more "follow-through" in their techniques and achieve their power by driving the entire body weight through a target zone at speed. The arm is totally relaxed until contact is made and the body is still driving deeper into the target when attention is brought to the technique using a trigger.
The body has more inertia to overcome before it can move with the descending line of force and, as a result, the power is more completely absorbed by the body rather than being partially dissipated by the body moving more freely with the punch, as with a horizontal line of force.
Martialarm Combat systems Weapons
The Martialarm System uses quite a large array of natural body weapons, a few of them fairly specialised. The main ones are:
? Fist Strikes. (Sun Fist, Dragon Head, Phoenix Eye and Leopard Paw)
? Palm Strikes. (Tile Shattering, Yin/Yang, Wil?low Leaf and Hurricane Palm).
? Finger Strikes. (Flying Fingers, Immortal Pointing the Way, Twin Dragons, Tiger Claw, Eagle Claw, Dragon Claw, Rat Claw and Crab Claw).
? Back Fist Strike. (These tend to be follow?through rather than the 'snap' versions).
? Bottom Fist Strike. (Iron Hammer equates to the Japanese tettsui technique).
? Forearm Strikes. (This is used for smashing, sweeping blows of great power).
? Elbow Strikes. (This is generally used in a very flexible manner using multiple strikes).
? Shoulder Strikes. (Used for close-in work, of?ten to propel an opponent out into punch?ing range).
As you can see, there is an emphasis on tightly targetted use of a specialised hand formation in many cases. It is not enough merely to lash out in the hopes of an effective strike. In a ring situation, the "when in doubt, lash out" tactic may gain you points, but in the street it will be ineffective, unless you are lucky enough to impact on a vital point. A precise, surgi?cal strike or kick into one of your opponent's vital or weak targets is needed and your combinations definately has to be structured with this in mind.
Martialarm System Technological Achievements
1. Revolutionised Martial arts thinking and design of "Formula Fighting" or "Martial Arts by Numbers" that allows pre-emptive attack - a much faster system than the conventional "Reactionary Response" to attack.
2. Development and pioneered Martial Science - a system which enables practitioner of all styles to evaluate and modify current technologies to improve efficiency and allow comparisons with proof of technologies, concepts and technologies.
3. Developed the following technologies -
a. Sightless combat
b. Smart weapons systems
c. Stealth weapons systems
d. Fire-and-forget systems
e. Broken rhythm energy
f. Plyometrics applications
g. U.F.O. motions
h. Counter error programs
i. Convert errors into attack
j. Selective automatic targetting
The Three Cs - Capability - Control - Confidence
Certainty in containing the opponent by a huge technological edge and a super tough body and mind.
1. Capabilities - Current fighting systems technologies have been transcended by great handling in that it is a martial science based on completely prooven concepts.
2. Control - Allows great handling of the opponents capabilities making him defensively impotent. Multi functional applications in everyday life as well as in self defense.
3. Confidence - The small, the unco-ordinated, the disabled and also the best and brightest will gain in self belief through this training.
Martial arm Martial Science Offers
Attack systems that cant be blocked. A shield that cant be breached. Body toughening, Formula fighting, Stealth and U.F.O weapons including the Nukes. Mind freeze technology that shuts the opponent down. 3Cs Capabilities and Control bring about Confidence.
Martial arm Martial Science Concepts
1. Traditional Fighting systems - Animal styles or based on kata and ritualised.
2. Acclectic Martial systems - Collection of what works for the individual into a new style.
3. Designer Martial arts - Only the usable of conscious mind, scientific and repeatable.
Similarities to Bruce Lee Jeet Kune Do
Simultaneous parrying & striking
When standing up to an incoming attack; the attack is parried or deflected and a counter attack is delivered at the same time. Not as advanced as a stop hit but more effective than blocking and counter attacking in order. This is also practiced by some Chinese martial arts.
Economy of motion
JKD students are told to waste no time or movement. When it comes to combat JKD practitioners believe the easiest things work best.
Be like water
Lee believed that martial systems should be as flexible as possible. He time and time again used water as an analogy to describe why flexibility is a desired trait in martial arts. Water is absolutely flexible. It can be seen through, but yet at other times it can obscure things from sight. It can split and go around things, rejoining on the other side, or it can crash through things. It can erode the hardest rocks by gently lapping away at them or it can flow past the tiniest pebble. Lee believed that a martial system should have these behaviours. JKD students reject traditional systems of training, fighting styles and the Confucian guidance used in traditional kung fu schools because of this lack of flexibility. JKD is is often said to be a dynamic concept that is forever changing, thus being extremely flexible. "Absorb what is useful; Disregard that which is useless" is an often quoted Bruce Lee maxim. JKD students are encouraged to study every form of combat available. This is believed to expand one's knowledge of other fighting systems; to both add to one's arsenal as well as to know how to defend against such tactics.
Stop hits / stop kicks
This means deflecting an opponent's attack with an attack of your own instead of a simple block. JKD students believe that this is the most difficult defensive skill to develop. This strategic plan can be a feature of some traditional Chinese martial arts.
No high kicks
JKD practitioners conclude they should mark their kicks to their opponent's shins, knees, thighs, and mid section. These targets are the closest to the foot, provide more stability and are more difficult to defend against. However, as with all other JKD principles nothing is "written in stone". If a open area presents itself; even a target above the waist one could take advantage of the situation without feeling burdened by this principle.

How To Be A Drop Back Passer - Quarterback Footwork

Monday, June 27, 2011

Quarterback drops are the number of steps you take back from the line of scrimmage as a drop back passer before you set up in the pocket to throw the pass. Each of your passing plays will require you to make different drops. As a drop back passer you want to ensure you take the correct number of drop steps for the timing between you and your receivers. To execute the both long and short passing plays, you must take the right number of drop steps to have a successful drop back passing game.
The drop back passing techniques is the three-step drop back, five-step drop back and the seven-step drop back. Using the three-step drop for the quick hitter passes the five-step for the medium to long ball and the seven-step for long passes are the drop back passing skills you will need to develop.
Each of the three drops use basically the same footwork, the three-step has you taking one long stride starting with the foot on your passing arm side, followed by two shorter quick steps. The second step being a cross over with the opposite foot and the final step is your plant step, setting you up to throw the pass. You will use the three-step for quick short timing patterns.
Drop back passing in the five-step drop is very much like the three-step drop, the difference being your footwork requires 5 steps. Take three long backward strides, and like in the three-step, you are crossing over on the second back step. The first three steps are followed by two quick steps, the last step being your plant step to deliver the throw. The five-step uses more time allowing the receivers to run their medium and longer routes.
Seven-step drop back passing follows the same pattern as the three-step and five-step drops. You take your first backward step using the same foot as your passing arm, taking 5 long backward steps, crossing over on the second and fourth steps, followed by 2 shorter quick steps, the last one being your plant step. You will be using the seven-step for the long passes, the seven steps giving you and your receivers the timing needed for that longer routes.
In conclusion, being a drop back passer requires you know the footwork for each of the three drop back patterns your offensive scheme requires. Each footwork drill is similar and used for different passing patterns. The three-step drop for short timing patterns, the five-step for medium and longer passing routes and the seven-step drop back for the long passing patterns.

Take One Easy Step Towards A Classic Golf Swing

Sunday, June 26, 2011

Most people that start playing do not have a classic golf swing and tend hit the the ball with a slice and hit it pretty short too. It can be a vicious circle, the more you expect to slice the harder you try and pull the ball to the left for for a right hander. There is an easy golf swing drill you can use to get back on track and get the right feeling.
It's easy to spot someone who slices the ball on the course or driving range, they are the golfers retreating away from the ball, their weight on the back foot. This makes no sense, try throwing a ball forwards when your weight is going backwards. Could you imagine a baseball pitcher winding up only to fall away from the batter, nope they put all of their weight into the throw and shift their weight forwards. To get rid of that slice and add yards to your shot you need to do the same thing, move towards the target.
Shifting weight forwards can feel very awkard to begin with when the natural instinct is to do the opposite. It takes a while to create that classic golf swing. Well try this next time you are on the range or practice ground.
Grab an iron with some loft on it, a seven or eight is ideal and tee the ball up slightly off the ground to begin with to give you a fighting chance. Take up your normal stance with the ball about half way between the centre of your stance and the left heel. Now without moving anything else move your front foot towards your back foot so that your feet are nearly together. The club should still be right behind the ball.
From this position take a backswing but only to a maximum of three quarters of your normal backswing. As soon as you start the forward swing step back with your front foot to where it was originally. Be prepared to hit some bad shots to begin with until you get the timing right!
This action will make your weight shift naturally forwards onto the front foot and towards the target exactly where it should be going. By moving forwards not only will your body weight be driving into the back of the ball adding yards to your shots, but also the club will be travelling more along the target line and not across it reducing that slice.
Taking action and trying this simple practice drill will get you stepping in the right direction to get that classic golf swing you have been looking for and watching the pro's do on tv, but dont stop there, there are many other ways to easly improve your play and enjoyment.

Fastpitch Softball Bunt Coverage

Saturday, June 25, 2011

To be a solid fastpitch softball defensive team, your team must be well-drilled in fastpitch softball bunt coverage. This article will discuss the standard scheme that works best for your base defense. Moreso than other softball skills, practice and repetition will be paramount in executing bunt coverage, as this play requires an inordinate amount of team chemistry.

The typical layout of your defensive unit should have the 1st baseman playing in towards home about 3-5 feet. The 2nd baseman and Shortstop should be positioned somewhere behind the baseline (depending on the age and level of competition). The 3rd baseman should be positioned about 10-12 feet inside the bag towards home plate. This base positioning dictates that the 3rd baseman, 1st baseman, pitcher and catcher are the four players in position to field the ball. The ideal player to field the ball is the 3rd baseman. She needs to be the General on the field on bunt coverage plays as she is the player moving towards the play at 1st base and she should have the best vision of the entire play. As she is charging the ball, she needs to make the call as to who will field the ball. How many times have we seen 2 or more players converge on the ball and think the other player will make the play only to make no play at all? Too many! The 3rd baseman should be charging the ball and call the position of the player that is in the best position to make the play.

Probably the hardest bunt to field is the ball placed about 6 feet in front of home plate and down the 1st baseline. This is a prime example where team chemistry will come in to play. The 3rd baseman will have to quickly assess who has the best play on the ball. Typically, the catcher would be the preferred choice since her momentum is headed towards 1st base; however, she may have been slow getting out of her position.

Softball Bunt Coverage - No Runners on Base

With no runners on base, 1st, Pitcher, Catcher, and 3rd are going to crash the ball. The 2nd baseman has the responsibility to cover 1st base and receive the throw. The rightfielder should take an angle to about 20 - 30 feet behind 1st base and near the foul line to cut off any errant throws. It's critical for the rightfielder to maintain a safe distance behind 1st base otherwise the errant throw to 1st base could well end up in the right field corner for a homerun. The centerfielder should take an angle to be positioned behind the rightfielder to help with retrieving an errant throw. The shortstop should head to 2nd base in case of an error at 1st base. The leftfielder should take an angle to position herself behind the shortstop.

Softball Bunt Coverage - Runner on 1st Base

TAKE THE OUT AT 1ST BASE!!! Don't even consider going for the lead runner and trying to get the out at 2nd base. It's fools gold and you would be lucky to make that play 10% of the time. All of the player's positioning is the same except for the shortstop and leftfielder. This is the MOST DISCIPLINED PLAY the shortstop will have to make. Her instinct is to cover 2nd base for a steal, however, if she does that and the bunt is put in play, it will turn into a foot race between her and the runner to get to 3rd base (If the runner on 1st sees the shortstop at 2nd, she just continues running to 3rd knowing it's going to be a very difficult play for shortstop to run from 2nd to 3rd and be in position to make a catch and tag). To play this correctly, position the shortstop 5 feet closer to 2nd base so she is in position to cover the steal without having to break to the base prior to knowing if the ball is successfully bunted. If the ball is not bunted, she covers 2nd base for the steal. If the ball is successfully bunted she covers 3rd base. She can't cheat to cover 3rd base either, or if the runner on 1st is stealing the shortstop will be out of position to take the throw. The leftfielder will take an angle to be about 20 - 30 feet behind 3rd base and on the left field foul line to back up an errant throw.

Softball Bunt Coverage - Runners on 1st and 2nd Base

Again, TAKE THE OUT AT 1ST BASE!!! Depending on the age and skill level of your team, it may be possible to get the lead runner at 3rd base. If the bunt is very short so the catcher can make a quick play, of if the bunt is too hard and the pitcher or 1st baseman can make a quick play, it COULD be possible to get the runner out at 3rd base. However, the odds are certainly not in your favor, and if the play is unsuccessful the result is having the bases loaded. Coverage on this play is the same as the coverage for a runner on 1st base coverage. The noted exception is the rightfielder needs to know on an overthrow she should be prepared to throw the ball home. Also, the leftfielder needs to take her backup position behind 3rd base in case the play is attempted at 3rd base.

Softball Bunt Coverage - Bases Loaded

The unique thing about this play is that either 1st base or Catcher needs to make the call as to where to throw the ball. The 3rd baseman and pitcher have a much more difficult time knowing how close the runner is to home plate. Also unique for this play, is that the catcher needs more discipline. She must immediately determine if another fielder can play the ball and toss it to her for the force out at home. If this is the case, she needs to take a 1st baseman's stance at the plate and be prepared to receive the throw and then throw to 1st base for a double play. She must also determine if she is the only player that can make a play on the ball and get the out at either home or 1st base. This is a pressure play on the defense, but with a fair amount of practice should be able to make the play at home on a fairly routine basis. If there is ever ANY DOUBT about making the out at home, the fielders must take the out at 1st base.

Softball Bunt Coverage - Look for the Double Play

When runners are on base and the bunt play is on, this is an ideal time to look for the double play. Typically the runners, especially a trailing runner, will take sizeable leadoffs on when the bunt is on. Train your players to react to a bunt that is popped up in the air. The easiest runner to double up is generally a runner on 1st base. Catch the pop up and fire the ball to 1st base for the force out. The lead runner is usually in a good enough position to be able to return to her base safely, however she probably is out of position to be able to advance when you throw to 1st for the double play.

Softball Bunt Coverage - Take the Out

Almost without exception, your team is far better off taking the out at 1st base. Considering the difficulty of getting the lead runner and the position you leave yourself in if the play is not successful, it's hardly ever worth the risk of going for the lead runner. I would submit the only time when it is imperative to get the lead runner is when the game-winning run is on 3rd base. Even if it is the game tying run on 3rd base, I would strongly consider taking the out at 1st base and allowing the runner on 3rd to score. If you go for the out at home and are unsuccessful, you have allowed the game to be tied and allowed the winning run on base or advance on the bases without getting an out. As a coach, you are finding a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and that's not a good thing.

Remember that the key to having a successful fastpitch defense is to make a very high percentage of easy outs. You must avoid giving up big innings to your opponent. In fastpitch softball, one big offensive inning can very easily decide the game. If you repeatedly play for the lead runner, you will consistently give up big innings. Further, if you can NOT shut down your opponents bunting game, you don't have much of a chance to win. In another article on this site, I tell the story of bunting 10 batters in a row one inning. Trust me, you don't want to be the team that sees 10 bunts in a row. That means your team can't cover the bunt, and you can't win the game. For the best way to practice your softball bunt coverage scheme please refer to the article The Bunting Game located at http://www.mysoftballcoach.com/bunting.html.

Eliminate The Backswing Dip!

Friday, June 24, 2011

We teach a fairly horizontal swing plane in comparison to most. Even though there are major benefits to this version of the golf swing certain complications can arise very quickly. This tip in particular was designed to keep golfers from hitting behind the ball. My objective is to inform you of all areas of the golf swing so that when certain situations arise, you can adjust accordingly wih your golf clubs. And ultimately checkpoints pre-established.
Problem
The player(s) back shoulder in his/her backswing dips down; meaning that the back shoulder is lowering towards the ground. This is hard to do when you have no lateral movement or weight shift back and away from the target, as we teach. However, this is very common among players who have a horizontal swing plane to use discount golf clubs. The tendency is to lower your back shoulder as your swing plane becomes more horizontal.
Please understand that if you dip your back shoulder in your backswing this could cause many different problems in you swing. Your timing, hand position at impact, weight shift through the ball, and follow-through position could all be negatively affected.
Solution
Fortunately there is simple solution. Go to the practice range and take a golf ball. Place the golf ball underneath your back foot (please make sure that ½ the ball is in the ground so that you don't fall over). If a ball is uncomfortable use a towel or something that is at least an inch off the ground. The ball/object should be placed underneath your back heel in order to ensure that you have no weight transfer and that your back shoulder does not dip in your backswing.
Then simply take your normal swing. If you choose you can hit a ball or you can just take a few practice swings. Focus on not dipping your shoulder in your backswing (keep your back shoulder up and not down). I guarantee that if you master this drill you will make solid contact with the ball on a more consistent basis. This drill will force you to practice a swing with no weight shift back and away from your target and simultaneously help you with dipping your back shoulder.
Practice this drill and be aware that if you are having difficulty hitting behind the ball at any point in your round, the problem could lie in shoulder position in your backswing.

Vollyball the Physical Sport

Thursday, June 23, 2011

When two teams meet on a beach for a professional play of volley ball, they will be more tilted let the aggressive side of their personality emerge. If the players reached the level of tournament of the play in volley ball, then it seems normal to be aggressive while playing the game which they like. A player of volley ball could exhiber a level of the patience which is comparable with a prey of picking off of puma in tall grass.
A player of volley ball could dominate volley ball by carrying out the air lifting exploits which take them with the vertical sizes in only seconds. Some spectators could compare the physical prowess of the athlete with a puma which is concentrated on bringing in bottom of the prey in order to feed to him from the small animals. The spite shown by a player of volley ball during a tournament lasts only also a long time like does it the play. When the play more, the ventilators have the occasion to see the more beautiful side of the player and to feel at ease when they ask them an autograph.
When being exerted for the aggressive plays of volley ball, a player must pass much hours stretching the muscles in their arms and legs. This type of formation prepares them for the duplicate-second synchronization of which they will have need to charge the net and to send the ball descending to a spot on the court of their opponent which is simply out of reach. Noting that the spot requires pointed hand to observe coordination and an aggressive nature which is almost principal.
More periods than not, the player who delivers such a ball will initially unload the face in sand. The aggressive plays of volley ball require the brutal treatment all the parts of body at the same time or others during a match, but the duration of this abuse is limited to a question of the seconds in the majority of the cases. The players of volley ball count on the team work to obtain their ball on the mark, which can be any point above the net on the court their opponent .
The service of volley ball requires to mix of an aggressive personality with the movements which are refined by reiterated exercises of formation of jump. The result is a service without clash which seems to steal effortlessly to the court of opponent with the exactitude of precision. The number of players in a set of professional volley ball will influence how aggressive all the players will be on the court. Some players claim the property with a space of place of three-foot which surrounds their body on all the sides.
There are many forces to work during an aggressive match of volley ball, and the players will count on the forces of gravity and acceleration to move the volley ball of a sector of the court of volley ball to the other. Some players specialize in a certain position on the court of volley ball and must await their turn until the rotation of play puts them in this position. This position will give the best opportunity to them to show their talents and to release their aggressive natures on an adversary.
The players who practise often together obtain the occasion to become accustomed with their movements of members of team. These movements become the second nature and can mean the difference between victory and loss. When the teams coordinate their efforts of play at the point where they play as a unit, it is very probable that this team can easily evaluate the qualifications of play of the players on the team and the play of opposition to these weaknesses with very little verbal comment.

Cameco's Smith Ranch Uranium Facility

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Cameco Corp (NYSE: CCJ) is the 800-pound gorilla of the uranium sector. Cameco is to uranium what Wal-Mart is to retailing, and what Saudi Aramco is to petroleum. On a percentage basis, Cameco dominates its sector more so than either of the two. Cameco probably has more clout in turning off the electricity now powering your computer than any other company in the world.
This week, the spot price of uranium rose to $40/pound, for the first time since Ronald Reagan was president. That should help grow the uranium business in Wyoming by leaps and bounds. In Part 5, we look at the largest U.S. uranium producer, Cameco-owned Power Resources.
Understanding 'In Situ Leach' Uranium Extraction
"It took $284 million Canadian to build, and it operated with 546 people," said Patrick Drummond, Plant Superintendent for Cameco subsidiary Power Resources' Smith Ranch facility. He was pointing to Kerr McGee's Smith Ranch underground mine on the wall across from desk, which was later converted into an ISL operation, first run by Rio Algom. "This operation cost US$44 million to build and 80 people to start." Drummond was referring to the In Situ Leaching (ISL) uranium extraction facility, known as Smith Ranch. "That should give you the scale of the ISL versus an underground mine," he explained.
The aging, but sprightly, Drummond knows his uranium. He's worked in underground mines, open pit mines, and uranium mills since 1980. From 1996 to the present day, he's worked in Wyoming for Power Resources at the company's ISL uranium extraction facility. "I started off in the coal mines in Scotland," boasted Drummond, who claims he can spot a coal miner in a bar, just by looking at the veins in his hands. "I worked up in Elliot Lake and the massive underground mines up there." Clasping his hands and looking down, he seemed to apologize, "It's also a massive environmental problem to clean up, a major undertaking. Quirk Lake was one of the bigger mines up there. It cost a lot of money to clean it up."
The New Face of Wyoming's Uranium Mining is the ISL uranium extraction method, also known as solution mining. The differences between mining uranium underground and an ISL operation are both minor and vast. Both methods mine uranium beneath the surface. So both methods are underground mining. However, that is where the similarities end. "With underground, you bring up the ore, grate it, crush it, and extract the uranium from the ore," Drummond explained the basics of underground uranium mining. "That ore becomes waste, which is known as tailings. You then have to service these big tailings and then decommission."
ISL is the new breed of mining. "With ISL, we don't do that," continued Drummond in his day-long lecture to our editorial team during a VIP tour of the Smith Ranch facility. "To mine underground with ISL, you drill the holes where the uranium is and extract the uranium from the underground ore," he said. "Then, you process that into yellowcake."
It's not all wine and roses for Drummond, though. He pines away for his underground mines, "From a mining perspective, it's not mining so it is not as exciting. Drummond laughs, "ISL is like a water treatment plant. We take water out and remove some ions." He makes it sound so simple, "We remove the water from the underground and remove the ions, being the uranium ion. Then, we put the water back under the ground." All of the water goes back into the ground? Actually no. Drummond explained, "We take our water out and we put 99 percent back in. The one percent we call 'bleed.' It's a control function."
Drummond cites more comparables, "To start an underground mine, it would take a year to do the shaft before you could start mining. Then, there's the development cost of the mill complex. You have all that outlay of cost before you can get any benefit. It's expensive to do underground -- $200 million plus - because of the upfront development costs." From his perspective, the miner in Drummond has come to like solution mining. "ISL is easier. It is a lot cheaper: less expensive capital costs and less operating expenditures. It is less labor intensive." Asked about the deadly radon emissions, often cited as a danger in underground mining, Drummond shot back, "This is a zero emission facility."
Analyzing the two methods, he said, "You can start producing faster with an ISL operation. You start your first header house, and you can start producing and make money." He added, "So you get a return on your investment faster." What's the downside? "We also recover less uranium with ISL," Drummond admitted. "Some of Cameco's mines in Saskatchewan are running around 5, 10, 15, and 27 percent uranium. In this area, or in an ISL, it runs less than one or two percent. It's very low." Plus the uranium ore body must be found below the water table. He added, "You can only do ISL in rock that's porous and has water in it in the first place."
To put it in the simplest terms, billions of years ago, the uranium found its way into the underground aquifers of Wyoming's sandstones. "We add oxygen and get the uranium back into solution," Drummond remarked. "We complex it with CO2 to keep it in solution, and then bring it to the surface. We extract it with an ion exchange base." According to Drummond, extracting uranium works on the same principle as a water softener. "We add salts to the resin to get the uranium to back off from the resin. Then, we take that uranium and make it into a final product called yellow cake."
And why it is called yellowcake? "Some of it is yellow; some of it is green or dark green. Some of it is black," Drummond patiently explained. "The color is a function of how we dry it, not how we process it. There is a very definite correlation between drying temperatures of yellow cake and color." It all depends on what chemicals you use while processing uranium. At Smith Ranch, we make uranium peroxide. It is very clean and yellow. We complex uranium with hydrogen peroxide to make our product. You can make different types of yellowcake. You can make a uranium diuranate, a complex made with ammonia." Yellowcake can be made with other chemicals.
How is Wyoming's ISL uranium dried? "We dry the uranium with vacuum dryers," said Drummond. "The benefit of vacuum dryers is first of all, it's a vacuum so everything is sucked inside the canister so nothing escapes into the environment. There are no gases that escape."
Investigating the Environmental Issues
It was, at this point, we felt it appropriate to inquire about all the puzzling worries many of us might correlate when thinking about nuclear energy and uranium. How safe is all of this really? "When we first started uranium mining, we inherited people from the gold mines," Drummond explained. "They were underground, and smoking, breathing in the dust. In the early days, we didn't have good ventilation. In underground mining, you've got to keep the air moving." Hard rock underground mining produces dust. "The shards of silicone you are breathing stick to the follicles on your lungs," he noted. But that doesn't happen during the ISL extraction process. No emissions, a farm of well fields with underground pipes and tubing, and very detailed safeguards explain they the lobby wall of Power Resources is lined with Safety Award certificates and plaques.
"On a daily basis, when we leave the facility, we are scanned for alpha radiation," continued Drummond. "Depending upon your position here, you get urinalysis once per week or once per month. We also check for radiation levels." How did Drummond fare on his most recent radiation check? "I was way below," he laughed. "There are guys on the beach in Malibu that have higher radiations than I have."
What precautions does Power Resources take to protect the environment during the ISL extraction process? "Since 1996, we have had zero excursions," Drummond announced with steeliness in his voice. "We take very great pains to look at the topography, so if we do have an excursion, we make sure it does not enter what we call the 'waters of the state.' Any channel that could take that and move it into the 'waters of the state,' is something that we are very cognizant of."
After the holes are drilled into the well fields, a company does a 'baseline sample.' Drummond said, "That's a sample of the constituents in the water. When we mobilize the uranium, we mobilize other items. It is our duty here, after we start the well field, to return the aquifer back to baseline when we are done." He added, "If we know what's in the water before we start, then we know how to restore it to background." Restoration of the underground tampering with Mother Nature can take anywhere from 18 to 36 months.
The company is meticulous in restoring the landscape as well. Any restoration work on the surface is called "reclamation." That can involve farming. "When we start a well field, we have to, by license, remove the topsoil and store it somewhere," Drummond explained. "When we go back to reclaim the property, we take all the pipes out, we take the houses down, and cut our wells off. It's all identified. We put an ID marker on the well. In 50 years time, when Farmer Joe comes around and wonders what was there, the state can say, 'That was a uranium well.' From the time we've stopped mining, we put everything back to normal."
It takes from two to four months, or up to seven years, to exhaust a well field, depending upon the roll fronts. While it can take up to 24 months to put in a well field, reclamation and restoration take longer. "We put back the topsoil on, depending upon the weather, as soon as we can," said Drummond. "We re-seed, during the spring or the fall, which is the best time for seeds. The seed we use is dictated by the regulators so we use a certain amount of native vegetation." Because it's very dry at the Smith Ranch, nearly bordering on desert, and because it is also very windy, slapping down the topsoil won't last very long. "First, we plant some fast-growing oats to establish a root bed," he explained. "If we just planted grasses, it would all blow away. Because we plant the oats, we have fat antelope and fat deer." From our observations, the sheep were well-fed and frisky.
How does Wyoming ISL mining compare to other places, such as in Texas or in Kazakhstan? "In Wyoming, the water is pristine, very clean, even compared to Texas, where they do ISL," answered Drummond. "The water's pretty clean down there also." Is the uranium the same? "When we bring our uranium to the surface, it comes up as uranyl dicarbonate," he responded. "In Texas, it comes up as uranyl tricarbonate." What's the difference? It's in the processing of the uranium. "We get about 8.5 pounds of pounds of uranium per cubic foot of resin," he explained. "In Texas, they get about 3 to 4 pounds of uranium per cubic foot of resin."
Drummond described the Smith Ranch ion exchange operation, "We have two columns in the ion exchange, each with about 500 cubic feet of resin." The resin costs about $200/cubic foot and, barring mechanical damage, can last up to thirty years, according to Drummond. The polymer beads - they look like tiny plastic ball bearings - capture the uranium during the processing phase. "In Kazakhstan, you get about two to three pounds of uranium per cubic foot of resin," he continued. "They use hydrochloric acid because of the water conditions. Of course, you've changed the chemistry of the water and have all the acid to clean up." Drummond described the water in Kazakhstan as very brackish, and yellowish. "The TDS (total dissolved solids) is very high," he added. "The water's not fit for human consumption anyways." He laughed, "Using acid over there cleans their water up."

Five Stages of Football Development

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

To bring out the potential in junior and youth football players, you need to use a variety of coaching techniques. Here we look at the five stages in development that can be used in training sessions to help your squad grow as players.

Stage One

Unopposed Practice

When working on building the technical skills of your players, this basic coaching technique can be used. Important tasks for the players to master are body shape, body alignment, movement related to the football and mastering the ball, i.e. feel, touch and controlling it.

Give clear instructions and use frequent demonstrations. Use language the players will understand such as laces as opposed to instep.

Use this solely to develop skill, do not introduce opposition. If players are presented with opposition too soon, they will not have developed the basics of a procedure and will be focusing on the opponent, hindering their skill development.

During this stage, the only decision making required from the player is which part of the foot needed for ball control, how they need to move and the path and speed of the ball.

Stage Two

Passive Opposition

Once your players have learned to master the ball, you can move on to introducing passive opposition, increasing the pressure slightly on the players by giving them something else to focus on.

After a player passes the ball to the receiver, he must follow it, as if he is going to close off his partner. The receiver must show ball control, letting it move no further than a foot from his body.

As an alternative, set out two cones at a distance of three yards away on either side of both players. The instruction is to ensure the pass keeps within the cones. This helps develop accuracy in passing but also works on the control element. The receiver controls the ball, manoeuvres it round a cone and passes the ball accurately to their partner, ensuring the ball keeps inside their partner's cones.

Stage Three

Positive Opposition

To build up the players learning experience, it's vital to increase the opposition. More opposition means the possessing player will need to think, make decisions and react, therefore developing techniques into honed skills.

At this stage, you are trying to place the player in situations they will face during a game. Reduce space and the amount of time spent on the ball in this stage to allow the player to make decisions quickly whilst keeping possession.

Stage Four

Small-Sided Games

Small-sided games are great for football development.

Act out some situations and utilise more free playing areas as this will really build the players football skills and sharpen their decision-making. Practical play will have a big effect on the players' development during these small-sided sessions.

Stage Five

Team Play and Full Game Practice

This is a bigger version of a small-sided game. This is the real deal, in a real playing environment, using real opponents and real game situations. Responsibilities, positional play, tactics, moves, formations, support, defence, attack, all blend together here, and make the players work together as a team.

Developing players in specific areas or responsibility can be achieved in small-sided games but with full game practice sessions, everything integrates into a real match situation.

Summary

Preparing a coaching program using these five stages will really improve the techniques and skills of your players.

Three Drills For Generating More Clubhead Speed

Sunday, June 19, 2011

Weekend golfers often equate "muscle power' with length off the tee. I see it all the time in my golf lessons. The player swings his or her driver as hard as he or she can, hoping to hit a monster drive. They never do. In fact, swinging the driver harder, as I tell these players, shortens your drives because it tightens your muscles, decreasing their ability to producing power.

The secret to more distance off the tee is generating more clubhead speed. Mechanically, you generate more clubhead speed one of three ways, as I point out in my golf tips:

• By widening your swing arc

• By lengthening your swing arc

• By adding speed in the hitting area

Widening your swing arc increases the distance the clubhead travels, giving it more time and room in which to build up speed. The same thing happens by lengthening your swing arc. This makes the swing arc longer, and again, gives the club more time and room to accumulate speed. Adding speed in the hitting area increases the clubhead's momentum through the impact area, generating more power.

Below are three drills I use in my golf lessons to teach how to generate more clubhead speed. The key with the drills is learning the feeling of what it is like swinging the clubhead faster, then incorporating that feeling in your swing. Practice the drills faithfully. You will see results fairly quickly.

Widening Your Arc: Right Hand Drill

If you swing arc is narrow, the club has less time and room to build up speed. If your left arms (for right-handers) bends too much during your back swing or is scrunched against your body during your backswing, as I often explain in my golf tips, your swing radius diminishes. This, in turn, narrows your swing arc. To generate more distance, you must keep your arms extended, which isn't easy if you have too much tension at address. Watch golfers with a low golf handicaps. They are always loose at address.

Ideally, you should feel your left arm extending on the backswing and downswing, with the sensation that you're swinging the club's butt away from your body. To achieve this feeling, practice hitting balls with your left hand holding the club and your right hand gripping your left wrist. Stretch the left arm out as you swing back. Use the right hand and arm to move the club farther from your body. The muscles at the top of your left arm should feel stretched as you complete your backswing. Swing slowly to keep club-ball contact solid.

Lengthening Your Arc: Right Foot Drill

Here's another golf tip: The farther away from the ball the clubhead travels on the backswing, the more potential it has to generate speed on the downswing. Short swing arcs result from a lack of body turn on the backswing. A full turn pushes the club back farther, so it has farther to go —and more time and room to generate speed—coming down. To set the stage for a steeper turn, try the right foot drill. I use it frequently in my golf lessons

At address, draw your right foot back about 10 inches (like taking a small step backwards, away from the ball- so as to set your stance as closed) and turn the toe of your left foot out at a 45-degree angle to your target. Keep your shoulders and body pointed toward the target. Define the target line by laying two clubs on the ground, pointing toward the target. Now hit some balls. You'll feel the sensation of your hips and shoulders turning more fully. Remember that feeling. Go back to your normal set-up but incorporate that feeling in your swing.

Adding Speed Through Impact: The Listening Drill

Next time you play a golfer with a low golf handicap, listen closely when he drives his ball. You'll hear a loud "whoosh." That's the sound of clubhead traveling through impact at an enormous speed. That's the sound of a good ball striker.

This drill teaches you what it feels like to swing a club with incredible speed as it passes in front of your body. You need a driver length shaft, with a grip on it and no clubhead attached. Swing the shaft back and through as in a normal practice swing, listening closely for the "whoosh" as it tears thought impact on the downswing. Try to make the whoosh loudest from a point even with your right leg to about midway into the follow-through. If you don't have a spare shaft, simply turn your driver upside down and grip it on the neck just above the clubhead and the grip of the club will be where the clubhead would normally be.

As you swing, be aware of what body parts move the fastest during the drill. This sensation varies from player to player, then incorporate it in your swing. If it feels like your hands give you the greatest increase in speed, for example, concentrate on using them more actively when you go back to your normal swing.

These three drills generate more clubhead speed. Practice them from 25 to 50 times at a session. Make them a daily golf instruction routine. Doing so will improve your mechanics and ingrain the feeling of adding clubhead speed. Once you've ingrained this feeling in your mind, take it with you to the practice range and hit some balls. Keep at it. You should find yourself producing more distance off the tee without swinging harder and, probably, cutting strokes off your golf handicap.

Jack Moorehouse is the author of the best-selling book "How To Break 80 And Shoot Like The Pros." He is NOT a golf pro, rather a working man that has helped thousands of golfers from all seven continents lower their handicap immediately.

Mizuno MP63 irons Give You an Incredible Feeling

Friday, June 17, 2011

Keep arms and shoulders loose throughout swing. It generates extension and speed. To help square clubface, try to touch your left forearm with your right forearm at impact. Keep clubhead moving along target line. Keep your elbows together throughout the swing. Keep spine angle (the forward bend) constant throughout swing. Divots should point toward target. Keep head and body behind ball throughout swing. Hit with 80% of power. When in doubt, use more club.
Point your chin at a spot just behind the ball throughout the swing. To get correct feel for swing, practice with right foot drawn back and flared to the right. Swing path controls the direction of ball flight. An open or closed face controls fades or draws. Accelerate through shot. Make sure left shoulder and arm are in the same position at
impact as they are at address.
Keep body behind ball to prevent "skyed" shots. Move the ball with the clubhead, not your body. Drill to promote correct feel: Freeze midway into downswing and
make sure that handle of club points to target line, right arm is pressed against side of chest and shoulders are lined up to right of target. Keep both feet flat on ground longer throughout swing for better balance. Control shot with speed at which you unwind your body, not with hands and arms.

Building your muscles and endurance through Weightlifting

No practice regime would be complete without lifting weights. Not only will it add muscle to your body and increase your strength, it will also help you to increase your maximum power. Maximum power differs in importance to strength due to the fact that it is exertion during play and not just muscle mass. It is the quickness and exertion that will enable a football player to accomplish their plays with skill on the field. As you continue in your weightlifting program, we highly recommend that you get a personal coach to push you in your goals, teach you proper techniques, and ensure that you are doing the right work for your position.

Foot Ball Drills

Protecting the football as you run

A team that prevents fumbles is a team that wins. Nothing is worse for your offensive team then turning it over carelessly to the other team in a fumble. Basic ball security can be broken down into four steps. The first point is the claw, meaning that your fingers are wrapped over the tip of the football. The second point is making sure that your forearm is wrapped tightly on the outer rim of the football. The third point is securing the other point of the football with your bicep making sure that it is right up against it. Fourth, pull the football up and tight against your ribcage closing the gap on the football from all four sides. As a player, you will want to make sure that you are well practiced in this skill, and as a coach you should dedicate some time to ball carrying skills. As your ball carrying continues to improve you will insure less turnovers and greater success on the field.

Ball handling Drill: "Hot potato"

Without a solid foundation of ball handling players will be easy prey to a solid defensive team. This drill is meant to help players control and develop their ball handling skills. The secret to this drill is having the ball constantly moving around and from hand to hand. The drill is simple and starts by having the player pass the ball around their head, torso, arms, knees, and even between their feet from one hand to another in constant motion.

The best thing that a coach can do is call out body parts that the players will have to move the ball around, or even calling a reverse command were the players will need to change the direction of the football. This change of motion will keep players from falling asleep, and ensure that you are developing handling skills and not just muscle memory.

We recommend that you end this drill by doing several football drops. For example, the player drops the ball and retrieves it quickly. To further increase pickup skills have your players change up the hands that they are using so that both their strong and weak hands are developed.

Running Drills: A Way of Life

Running drills are one of the most basic ways that you can enhance your endurance. Running drills will help you gain stamina so that you will be able to play to your full extent throughout the game. Teams, or individuals, that do not complain throughout the running drills will be better off and better prepared for a game. Just remember that in the end it is the fastest that win games. Running has a final help to your team, and that is learning how to push beyond your limits, you will be surprised how often that happens in football, and in life

Don't Believe These Popular Golf Myths

Golf is replete with myths. Covering everything from driving to course management, these myths are passed down from father to son, some in the form of golf tips on swing mechanics, others in the form of wise advice on how to do things. Unfortunately, many of these myths are just plain wrong.
Below are three popular myths I like to debunk in my golf lessons and golf tips. One or two of them may have an element of truth in them. The other may have no truth in it at all. Regardless, all of them embody ideas that can elevate scores and boost golf handicaps.
1.Aim at the Target
We've all heard this statement before. Maybe even said it. The statement isn't so much mythic as it is confusing. The question is, aim what at the target? Your clubface? Your shoulders? Your body? The statement doesn't really say.
The problem with this myth is that it can cause people to misalign themselves in one of two ways, hurting his or her golf handicap.
• aiming the feet, hips, knees, and shoulders directly at the target, leaving the clubface following a line well right of the target; or,
• aiming to compensate for ballflight errors, like when you aim left to compensate for the ballflight error of a slice (for right handers).
When aimed correctly, the leading edge of the clubface sits at a right angle to the target line while your body aligns parallel-left of the target line. This set up establishes perfect parallel alignment. This position doesn't come naturally. So you need to work on it on the range to recognize when you're aiming correctly on the course.
Here's a drill I use in my golf instruction sessions. First, pick a target and lay one club down on the ground a few feet in front of the ball, but on the target line. Then, take a second club and lay it down parallel to the first but along your toe line to indicate body alignment. Make adjustments as necessary. Finally, hit a few balls and see what happens. After awhile you'll have trained your body and eyes to accept this new alignment.
2.As the swing gets longer, it gets faster
If you're like most golfers, you swing the driver faster than the 7-iron or 8-iron. Most of us invariably ramp up our swing speed with longer clubs because we envision hitting the ball harder and driving it farther. It's a natural tendency, one I often see when giving golf lessons.
Unfortunately, when you ramp up your swing speed, you destroy your natural swing tempo-the total amount of time it takes to create your swing from beginning to end. That's not good. When you start varying your swing's tempo from club to club, you destroy the timing required to hit consistent golf shots. It's one reason why you feel that you can hit your irons well one-day but not your woods, and vice versa.
All of us have our own swing tempo. Some of us have a fast tempo, like Nick Price. Some of us have a slower tempo, like Fred Couples. Either way is fine, as long as you keep the same tempo for each club in the bag. It's not something you control. If it takes two seconds to hit the pitching wedge, it should take you two seconds to hit the driver. Practice consistent tempo with all your clubs and you'll hit consistent shots.
3.Play the ball back with shorter clubs
Most of us vary ball position as we change clubs. The shorter the club, the farther back we position the ball. But incorrect ball positioning can create major problems. With the ball positioned too far forward, our shoulders tend to align too far left of forward. Since your club swings where our shoulders point, we slice. With the ball positioned too far back, our shoulders tend to close, encouraging a push or a hook.
While you should position the ball more forward for the driver than the pitching wedge, you should never place the ball farther back than center for any normal shot with a level lie, regardless of the club you're using.
Remember, for normal shots on level lies, there are just three basic ball positions;
• Short iron: one inch left of center
• Mid-irons: two inches left of center
• Long irons & woods: three inches left of center.
In addition, always relate the position of the ball to your upper body, not your toes. Using your toes can create the illusion that the ball is positioned correctly when in fact it isn't. For example, if you use your toes to position the ball with your foot flared out but then close up your foot, the ball seems to move forward in your stance, when it actually hasn't.
These are just three of the more popular golf myths that exist, many of which I address in my golf lessons and golf tips. There are lots more. Unfortunately, many of them are just plain wrong.
So be wary of them. And don't be afraid to challenge them. Even if you're wrong, the worse thing that can happen is that you can learn something valuable about the game of golf.

Volleyball Tips For Girls On How To Use Pepper Warmup To Improve Your Defense

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Many volleyball players don't know how to use the Pepper Warm up Drill as a way to improve their volleyball game. Below are 5 ways elite volleyball players use "Pepper" as a way to improve their volleyball defensive game.
1. Improving your ball control is the number one reason for mastering the pepper warmup drill.
2. The second reason is to improve your serve receive form and technique.
I firmly believe, that pepper is the number one most effective way for indoor volleyball players to improve their ball control. But you must know how to use the drill effectively. and that starts with understanding why you are even doing the Pepper drill in the first place. If you don't understand why you are doing this drill then its just becomes a way to raise your body temperature and increase your pulse rate.
a. If YOU set the volleyball--whoever sets should be working on form and technique.
Your Goal--the ball should go right to your partner without them moving more than one step in any direction to chase your ball.
b. When Your partner passes the volleyball back-- his/her concentration should be on using excellent form for serve receive and free ball passing, taking advantage of the fact that this is an easy ball.
Your Goal--is first to pass the volleyball so she/he can hit the ball right back to you without taking more than one step. Secondly, bump setting practice for accuracy is a priority, so each and every ball goes right back to above the hitters extended hitting arm.
c. When You spike the ball back. You hit a controlled 1/2 to 3/4 speed down ball right to your partner. In this instance you have a controlled situation where you can practice the finer points of your armswing. Before the game here's where you can concentrate on "reaching" --raising your elbow and hitting high while controlling the ball speed. Just because there's no net doesn't mean you can make contact with the ball down by your ear. If you hit low in Pepper it means you are training your body to hit low in your spiking warm up line and then you'll be more likely to spike low without reaching high for the ball in a game. Trust me--it all transfers. Your body is recording every movement you make it do in volleyball practice-so pledge to yourself to do the movements correctly, so in game everything will happen automatically.
Your Goal-- To hit the spot you are aiming for which in the Pepper drill means right to your partner, so that she doesn't have to move more than one step UNLESS you choose to mix up your attack and include a tip to your partner. I highly recommend mixing up your attack only after you have improved your ball control.
d. Your partner digs--focus should be on being down in your defensive position before your partner hits the ball which means by the time they make contact with ball. Because Pepper partners are relatively close together you will automatically be developing quick reflexes. Here is where you practice combining your quick reflexes with BALL CONTROL. React quickly...then control the ball. React quickly then c-o-n-t-r-o-l the ball.
Your Goal--Is to learn and practice how to absorb a hard hit ball that has been spiked at you from a close distance and then delivering that ball (ever so softly, ever so accurately people) in control, to your target without making them move more than one step. Here's where you learn to fight to maintain control of the ball by controlling the movements of your body.
3. The third reason is to increase your range in volleyball defense.
By tipping the ball further and further out of your partner's reach advanced players can challenge their partners (you both need to agree to make the drill work) by tipping the ball further and further out of reach - the more of these balls you get in pepper-the more you will get in the game. It all transfers. Or by hitting a 1/2 to 3/4 speed down ball a foot or 2 to the right or left of the defender will increase your range of harder hit defensive balls that you dig up around you.
4. The fourth reason is to narrow your focus and concentration.
How many times have you gone to a volleyball tournament and had half a court that you could use to pepper with your partner? Hardly ever, I'm sure. That's because Pepper warm ups almost always take place in a crowded environment. You may have 25 teammates on either side of you trying to pepper, or you and your partner are near that net divider that separates the courts in a tournament, or you have fans that walk up and down the aisles, team benches, believe it or not this is a great practice opportunity where you narrow your focus and concentration so that it doesn't matter what happens around you ...the world can come to an end but your focus is only on the volleyball.
5. The fifth reason is to increase your reactions and diminish any fear of the ball
As your ball control gets better then you and your Pepper partner should agree to challenge each other to make each other better players. When you get to the point when you are exchanging 10 to 12 pass, set, hit combinations in a row, both of you should stop and commit to hitting harder at each other. About 3/4 the speed of your regular down-ball spike-BUT YOUR GOAL is to still work up to as many pass-set-hit exchanges as you can while controlling the ball. Your digs should still be going right to each other.
Remember the ball is in Your hands!

How to discover sense of balance exercises

Saturday, June 11, 2011

If you do a hundred sit ups each day, in this way it can surely promote to give you fatter sat, you cannot do the same thing all day long. Another hidden benefit of doing exercises while standing on one leg is ankle, knee and hip stability and strengthening.
The small muscles around the foot and ankle really get challenged during balance exercises, and standing on one foot can strengthen the arch muscles. But, if you really want to develop your core and your sense of balance there is nothing better under the sun than kettle bells. If you are unfamiliar with them, they look like a cannon ball with a handle on it. Any exercise you do sitting or lying on a bench can be advanced by incorporating an exercise ball.
By sitting on the ball and performing, say an overhead shoulder press, your stabilizing muscles have to work much harder because you are positioned on an unstable piece of apparatus. One great golf balance drill is swinging and actually hitting balls on one leg. Give it a try! And you will find how difficult it is soon.
However, you will agree with it after you stick with it. Another exercise is to stand with a chair to the side. Hold onto the back of the chair with the nearest hand. Then rock up onto your toes. You must hold for ten seconds a time. Health desperation sets in and short bursts of fad dieting are quickly followed by binge eating is a health way. A balanced diet should consist of a good combination of carbohydrate, fat, protein and fibre. There are also another balance related exercises, such as we can use stability ball. We can use the stability ball to target your abdomen area.
You can strengthen your knee flexors and extensors by balance exercises. Some people just doing one exercise they find on the internet or in a magazine, like balancing one foot, but this method is incorrect. That's just not going to be enough. Balance exercises are very important for ankle strengthening. When you stand on one leg, your arch muscles, foot muscles, and ankle muscles will work much harder.
The arch muscles are the most important part which are among foot and ankle muscles to be strengthen. When talking about exercising balance training is often overlooked, which is unfortunate considering how much it can affect our lives and well being.

People who believe that the haven't received a service coming to them more than 90 miles per hour or played a match which ensured 2 hours in the heat of 90 degrees.

Don't is ancious to start to strike with a new spot. Be patient. Once that the you've obtained conformed to make the good contact and to strike your predetermined spot selects a new place to strike the ball with.

3 Putting Drills to Help You Sink More Putts

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

To play golf at a high level, the game is about making birdies and not three putting. This means you have to make putts by using putting fundamentals which are typically learned through putting drills. To become a confident putter under pressure, it will take some practice time to work with your putting stroke and putting drills.

The putting drills below are great practice. They will teach you not to move or peek at your putt. This habit typically gets worse as the heat is turned up on your putting stroke. This is when you must rely on your putting fundamentals. In addition, you should also work on creating a repeating routine so when a big putt needs to be holed, the focus is on holing the putt. Use these drills and you will see an improvement in your putting and more importantly your pressure putting.

Putting Drills - KEEP YOUR HEAD STILL

You should hold your head still to keep the putter on path throughout the stroke. There are many ways to do this. You can practice this at home or in a hotel room if your travel. Take your putting stance with your head touching the wall. As you take your stroke you should not be able to feel your head move off of the wall. If you do you have too much motion in your putting stroke. You also can incorporate a friend. While you swing your putter back and through freely have your friend hold your head still. This also provides instant feedback. After the ball is gone, look at the spot where the ball was and slowly count to three and listen for the ball to fall into the putting cup. Although counting to three will seem like an eternity, this is key to become a good putter under pressure.

Putting Drills - EYES CLOSED

After you line up a short two to three foot putt, simply close your eyes. Closing your eyes will encourage you to really feel the movement of your arms. You will find that the slower your arms move, the more consistent you will putt. In addition, you will become much better at your distance control .

Putting Drills - STABLE BASE

This drill will help you keep your lower body in place during the putting stroke. First, take your putting stance and then wedge a rubber ball between your knees. You will need to squeeze the ball slightly to create a solid foundation and not to let the ball drop. You will develop the feeling of stability which is a fundamental of a consistent stroke by rolling putts this way.

Using these putting drills will teach you the putting fundamentals that you will need to make a good stroke. No matter what skill level that you currently have, implementing these drills will allow you to make a better putting stroke that will put the golf ball on the correct line and will lead to holing more putts and lowering your scores.

Soccer Skills - How To Improve Your First Touch

Sunday, June 5, 2011

Many players around the world struggle to keep the ball with their first touch. This is either by poor technique or lack of awareness or where defenders are. Watch the best players around the world as they have spent many hours honing their technique on how to control the ball properly. Below are a few techniques and drills that will help you improve both your first touch and ball control.

How to control the ball

Foot Ball Drills

Receiving

When receiving the ball, it is better to keep the ball moving into space or away from a defender, rather than to bring the ball to a complete stop. When receiving the ball, it's important to make contact just above the middle of the ball to keep the ball along the ground. It's important to cushion the ball, this brings the ball under your control. The good footballers can always settle the ball quickly and away from defenders and into space. This gives them extra time to keep one step in front of the opposition. To be able to move the ball into space and away from defenders, it's important that you are aware of what you are going to do with the ball before you get the full stop.

Trapping

Trapping is different to receiving in the way that trapping is to bring the ball to a complete stop. Trapping is typically used when the ball is traveling too fast for you to control effectively. When trapping the ball it is important to stay relaxed and on your toes. In contrast to being tense and stiff, this allows you to adjust quickly. When trapping the ball cushioning plays an important part. When cushioning you need to take the pace off the ball, this is done by withdrawing your foot at the moment of impact.

How to practice control

The easiest and most effective way to practice control is with a partner. You and your partner can practice the different types of control by passing the ball to each other or throwing the ball to each other. If you cannot get a partner, the next best thing is a wall. A wall gives you the chance to practice the skills that you want for as long as you want. With a wall you can practise simple passing and receiving to volleys and chest control. It's important when practising ball control, that you practice with both feet. Being able to control the ball with both feet makes you unpredictable to defenders.

Control with the inside of the foot

When controlling the ball with the inside of the Foot, the supporting leg must be slightly bent and must be planted 45 to 90° in relation to the path of the ball. At the moment of contact, cushion the ball along the original path, moving the ball either into space or away from a defender.

Control with the outside of the foot

This technique is useful when you have the defender pressuring you from behind. Firstly you must get your body in between the ball and defender standing slightly sideways with your arm slightly raised, to be able to Push or hold off a defender. The supporting leg must be slightly bent at a roughly 90° angle from where the ball is coming. On the moment of contact the ball is cushioned with the outside of the foot giving the defender no chance to get the ball fairly.
