Football BCS standings screwup - 2003 and 2004

The college football season of 2003 was the controversy of the first season to really Bowl Championship Series. Three teams: LSU, Oklahoma and USC had one loss and had the right to play in the championship game. USC BCS ranked third in the polls despite winning first place in the final AP and coaches polls. However, the third in the Baja California Sur, which remained out in the end. A USC victory secured the league title, but were forced to share with LSUautomatically won the coaches poll to win the BCS National Championship.

The following year, 2004, has an even bigger dilemma. Three teams from BCS conferences throughout the season undefeated. USC won the Pac 10, Oklahoma won the Big 12 and Auburn won the SEC. Although the SEC has been thought to be the toughest non-conference this year, Auburn was appreciated early in the season and has never USC and OU in the BCS rankings. This Auburn left without the chance to play undefeatedfor the national title. USC demolished OU 55-19, and the AP voted them number one, and also gave Auburn a part of the title. Auburn has played a gauntlet to the SEC, is undefeated and has not even had the chance to play for the championship. Auburn defeated Virginia Tech in Sugar to finish the season undefeated. Utah remained unbeaten in 2004, but were smaller than the Mountain West Conference, which were overshadowed by the other threeequipment.
