Football Drills Offensive Line of the former NFL player Irv EATM

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

I am a former NFL football player and I want to talk today about the offensive line. My friend and teammate Football Coach University EATM Irv told me about some exercises that are perfect for the offensive lineman.

In all exercises, based on the fact that we want our linemen on the driver. We want to be able to move from right to left. We want to go there on foot. Every year they do not learn to turn back and forth across the linethe line of scrimmage. We do not want your hips and shoulders to open. We want everything before them like a baseball catcher.

Drill a number - Running strings

The first week we beat all the other holes. chin on his hands. arms bent like a boxer. 6:00 to 8:00 hand inches from the chin to where they can continue to punch. Come down and down and down and back four times. It is not an exercise in speed.

Second week starts standing by the rope. Passing Stringsto seize and beat and see if the balance?

Drill number two - Wave Drill

wave of effort to change direction and lateral movement. You can have fun with this exercise. You can take the lineman off balance when they are concentrated. It 'a good exercise to teach them to keep the shoulders square.

Drill number three - Big Bertha Bag Drill

We have big bags containing about 300 pounds of sand. We knocked on the bag every day. Crashesequipment in a swing. Players hit the bag and keep it open the feet and shoulders are not square. You can have the status of lineman to a point 2 or 3 points. Once the changes in your front pocket hit the sack. Make that 4 or 5 good reps. This exercise teaches lineman offensive players to use their hands there and develop a good punch.
