Have you ever debated with a friend as to the most important position in football? I'm sure the answer has varied depending on who you have asked but by far the offensive linemen are one of the most important positions. If they don't play their positions correctly then they won't provide their team with a chance to score.
It is for this reason that the offensive linemen must be in shape. If they are out of shape in anyway they will effectively create a whole in their line allowing for the other teams defenders to break through and essentially attack their quarterback. The drills that the linemen have help teach them to be quick, strong and to definitely build muscle.
Foot Ball Drills
The first drill ends up placing one offensive lineman at the bottom of a hill. Placed on the hill are 2 defensive linemen. The offensive linemen in this case linemen 1 needs to push one of them up the hill as quickly as he can. Once the whistle is then blown the 1st linemen then needs to switch to the 2nd defender and try to push him up the hill as well. This is an extremely ravaging exercise that helps the linemen build strength, stamina, and endurance.
There is a 2nd drill that also focuses on building strength, stamina and speed. It involves the use of the blocking shields. If you have ever seen any TV show or other football related movie than chances are you have seen one of these shields. The point of the exercise is for the linemen to get in the ready position and then to push against the shield as quickly and as heavily as they can for a duration of set time.
These are just some of the drills used for football offensive line drills. All of which are extremely important for the players to follow correctly.
